Creating Culture

What does it mean to create culture?

"The church must become more than a meeting of Believers; it must become a gathering of disciples who are being equipped to carry out the Great Comission from one generation to another, if we are going to create the culture of Christ.

"A faithful man was not merely one, but one who would pass on what he had received. I wonder what would happen if we understood faithfulness the same way?

"It is easy to blame institutions, the media, and secularists for many unwanted changes in our society, but I doubt that God does. He first looks at His own family for a place to assign responsibility.

"We must... change our minds about how to recreate our culture.

"Mass media is not our enemy. Mega churches are not either. But neither of these will take the place of personal relationships and personal ministry.

"The Abrahamic culture as revealed and fulfilled in Christ, swept over the goddess culture of Corinth, Athens and Ephesus. The pluralism of Rome fell before the power of the Gospel.

~ Charles Simpson

"... the tree is known by its fruit." Matthew 12:33

What kind of fruit are we bearing??

Sweet Fruit

"The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet." ~ Aristotle

"I shall become a master in this art only after a great deal of practice." ~ Erich Fromm

"...for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap." ~ Galatians 6:7

Letter from an eighty-year old... YOU?

Continuing with the theme of our ice breaker last week:

"If you had two other imaginary lifestyles/career you could lead, what would you do (money not being an issue)? ideas: English professor, painter, lawyer, scuba diver, Mt. Everest climber, doctor, performing artist, novelist, etc"

Here's another thought to ponder...

(taken from The Artist's Way)

If you were to write a letter to yourself now, as though you were eighty years old, what would you encourage yourself to be/do?

"We have been taught to believe that negative equals realistic and positive equals unrealistic." ~ Susan Jeffers
