Through Art

"God touches us through art. The mathematician is consigned to numbers. The biologist is restricted to organic matter. The philosopher uses only words.
The artist, on the other hand, is unrestricted in e x p r e s s i o n. The only limits are self-imposed.

"The picture that is worth a thousand words might also contain a hundred insights. The sculpture that represents only one natural figure might also represent a score of supernatural truths. The film, held on one reel, might reveal dozens of secrets about the world around us. The four minute song might contain a lifetime's worth of revelation about life and love. The moving narrative on the pages of a single book might open up a brand new landscape of meaning to us.

"God chooses the artistic handiwork of people to reveal Himself to us."

Seasons

What is your favorite season and why?

"There is an appointed time for everything and there is a time for every event under heaven . . . He has made everything appropriate in its time.

He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end." ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 11

At our small group last Wednesday we talked about the seasons and how we can see parallels to the seasons of the soul through which we walk.

We also explored how to discern when the Lord is leading us into a new season in our lives -just like we can see that it is spring time by the evidence of the earth blooming and the weather warming . . .

"The natural world teaches us the power of change. As seasons shift I see the purpose and beauty of life's cyclicality. I see the promise of spring, the ripening of summer, the bounty of harvest and the mysterious containment of winter." ~ Julia Cameron

How will we respond to a changing of season?

"Transitions creates vulnerability. The safety of the old life has been set aside. The safety of the new life is not yet in place. The passage between the two feels perilous and threatening."

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." ~ Hebrews 13:8
