Two Dimensional Listening?
When in conversation with one another do we listen for the meaning and the heart behind what one is saying... or do we stop at face value?
Or how about nature and the world around us?
Do we stop at what we can see with our physical eyes, or do we listen closely for the message God is perhaps speaking and revealing through His creation to each of us?
What about Scripture?
Do we take the time to read it and look deeper for what God is saying through the stories of the Old Testament or the parables in the New Testament?
Why, for that matter, did Jesus even speak in parables?? . . . Could it perhaps be that He wants to be pursued and doesn't just broadcast His plans, secrets and dreams with a people that aren't taking the time to know Him?
Do we ever wonder why out of all the ages of history God recorded those particular stories for all believers to read in His Word?
Can we perhaps tune in to hear God speak like tuning into a radio station?
Do we as humans have the capacity to truly hear God clearly, or will we only ever be able to hear Him like a radio station with lots of static?
Do our spirits perhaps have "eyes" and "ears" specifically for "seeing" and "hearing" from the Spirit with our spirits?
Can we develop our spiritual vision and hearing?
What does that look like?
Do we understand why it might be important for each of us as Believers to have a sharp and discerning spirit?
Come ready to explore some of these questions and others through our time together this Wednesday that can perhaps begin to lead us on a journey to the Answer Himself and how He desires to communicate with us. . .

"'I have already told you everything in my Word, who is my Son. I have nothing more to reveal, no further answer to give you, there is nothing to add to him. Fasten your eyes on him alone, because in him I have spoken and revealed everything. Ipsum audite 'Listen to Him.' “
Ascent of Mount Carmel, by Saint John of the Cross
"I come here to speak poetry. It will always be in the grass. You will always have to bend down to hear it. It will always be too simple to discuss in large groups."
Boris Pasternak
“Preach the gospel at all times -- If necessary, use words.”
Saint Francis
